MAKING DANCES:

Embodying Inspiration, Shaping the Dance

A class focusing on the practice of dancemaking and performance skills, either by creating a new work or learning a piece from our repertory. Presenters may also commission a site-specific project that includes community engagement.

  • Beginning with a "hot" physical impulse - discovering an authentic impulse to move - we learn how to journey from that impulse to the creation of choreographic work. My goal with students is to take them to the edges of their imaginations and obsessions.

"Thank you for a marvelous residency. The work you created for our students is potent, passionate and fascinating. Through your classes and rehearsals our students became bold and fearless performers in a sumptuous circus of dreams and fantasies."
Gary Shore, Associate Professor of Dance and Performance Studies, Roger Williams University

"I cannot tell you how happy I am that you agreed to come to Curry to teach Circo Folle! The students have learned SOOOOO much in such a short time, they are really working hard and out of their comfort zone, but pushing themselves and opening up in ways that are vital. You are a wonderful teacher and leader. What a gift that we could make it work."
Alissa Cardone, Chair, Dance Department, Curry College

Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with you again. I am so happy to have experienced the magic of Circo Folle - not only a great training exercise for me, but a challenging performance, and a fun experience! It is always such a pleasure to study under you, and I look forward to doing so again in the future.
